The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has successfully concluded a substantial economic aid initiative for Jordan, amounting to $250 million, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
This financial assistance, which was first agreed upon during the Makkah Summit in 2018, was designed to extend over a five-year period and aimed at reinforcing Jordan’s economic stability. The concluding disbursement of the package consisted of $38.6 million.
Jordanian Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Touqan, conveyed her nation’s appreciation to the Saudi Ambassador to Jordan, Nayef Al-Sudairi, and Abdulmohsen Al-Mutawa, who leads the General Department of International Development Cooperation in the Saudi Ministry of Finance.
Touqan highlighted that the financial assistance has been a cornerstone in preserving the strength of the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
She further recognized the pivotal role that the Kingdom has played in supporting Jordan as it provides critical services to Syrian refugees and their host communities.
Ambassador Al-Sudairi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia’s dedication to standing with Jordan, guided by King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II. He underscored the resilience and potential for growth of the Jordanian economy, despite the multitude of regional challenges and impacts.
