The Minister of Transport for Saudi Arabia, Saleh Al-Jaser, recently highlighted the significant potential for investment within the nation’s burgeoning aviation industry. Addressing attendees at the commencement of the 2024 Future Aviation Forum, Al-Jaser emphasized the imperative for entrepreneurs to harness the opportunities presented by the expansion and modernization of airports across the Kingdom.
Al-Jaser underscored the impressive figure of 111 million passengers who traversed the Kingdom’s airports last year. He also shed light on the strategic plans to enlarge several airports and initiate the International King Salman bin Abdulaziz Airport. The goal is to accommodate 100 million travelers annually by 2030. Furthermore, he brought attention to the investment funds of Avilis, specializing in aircraft leasing, and Riyadh Air. This move is set to open new avenues for private sector participation in the aviation landscape.
Concurrently, Abdulaziz Al-Duailej, the leader of the Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), conveyed in an ancillary forum that the Kingdom is committed to establishing an aviation sector characterized by reduced fuel consumption, heightened efficiency, and environmental stewardship.
Al-Duailej noted that at peak times, the Saudi airspace is bustling with up to 4,000 aircraft per day. He spoke of ambitions to devise flight routes that are not only shorter but also produce lower emissions, aligning with the broader vision for a sustainable future in aviation.
