Progress in Saudi Arabia’s AMAALA Luxury Tourism Destination
Saudi Arabia’s Red Sea Global (RSG) is making significant strides in developing AMAALA, a luxury destination focused on wellness and longevity. Drawing inspiration from the Red Sea, AMAALA aims to redefine coastal living by fostering deep connections with nature, self, and community through wellness, adventure, art, and transformative events.
RSG Group CEO John Pagano highlighted the project’s achievements, emphasizing sustainability and regenerative principles in every aspect. “AMAALA will offer exceptional wellness, lifestyle, and human connection experiences,” he stated.
RSG has awarded over 600 contracts worth nearly SAR23 billion ($6.13bn) to partners committed to responsible development and local community collaboration.
Key areas of AMAALA are nearing completion:
- Triple Bay Marina Village: The Equinox Resort is topped out, and the Village Boutique Hotel’s main building, condos, and villas are almost finished. The village will feature boardwalks, waterfront dining, luxury boutiques, and events against the Red Sea backdrop.
- Marina: The marina basin flooding was completed in late 2023, and contracts for floating pontoons and fixed decks have been awarded.
- AMAALA Yacht Club: Construction contracts are in place, with concrete, structural steel, and MEP works underway.
- Wellness Core: Superstructures are present on 80% of the 220 buildings, including top wellness resorts like Jayasom and Clinique La Prairie, offering a focus on mental, physical, and energetic regeneration.
The Ministry of Health has approved the design of the AMAALA Hospital, which will serve the 4,200 km2 destination’s residents and visitors.
Upon completion, AMAALA will feature nearly 4,000 hotel rooms across 30 hotels, 1,200 luxury residences, high-end retail, fine dining, wellness, and recreational facilities, all powered entirely by solar energy, saving around half a million tons of CO2 emissions annually.
