The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) is at the forefront of delivering intelligent solutions and robust digital services, particularly aimed at enhancing the experience of those visiting the Two Holy Mosques during the Umrah season. This initiative is part of SDAIA’s broader strategy to promote research in data and AI to improve service offerings at these religious sites, in line with its overarching goal to bolster data proficiency and AI innovation.
In its effort to provide exemplary services to Umrah attendees and other visitors, SDAIA is collaborating with various government sectors. This collaboration is in response to the guidance of the nation’s esteemed leadership and supports the aims of the Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030.
The ‘Tawakkalna’ application is a key element of SDAIA’s strategy to simplify the journey for visitors of the Two Holy Mosques. The app, which is available in seven languages across 77 countries, consolidates services from numerous government agencies. Its features include the ability to issue Umrah permits, access weather updates, locate the Qibla direction, and view prayer schedules.
Understanding the transformative potential of AI, SDAIA is working closely with relevant stakeholders to improve services for Umrah pilgrims and worshippers. This includes optimizing crowd management and enhancing surveillance at various entry points.
SDAIA’s ‘Baseer’ platform showcases the power of homegrown technological innovations. It utilizes locally developed algorithms to streamline crowd control, direct movement, and offer advanced data analytics through real-time dashboards for decision-makers.
Furthermore, SDAIA enhances the functionality of entry points by supplying both human and technological resources. This includes the provision of equipment, execution of preventative maintenance, and comprehensive training for staff on the latest device operations, system functionalities, and updates, all aimed at improving the efficiency of border operations.
