The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has made a significant stride in educational technology by submitting its “3D Virtual Reality learning, Multilingual and Multi-platform for Hajj and Umrah” program for consideration in the WSIS Prizes 2024. The project awaits public endorsement, with the voting period set to conclude on the last day of March.
This avant-garde endeavor, which symbolizes the Kingdom’s commitment to innovation, employs three-dimensional virtual reality to educate individuals on the sacred rituals of Hajj and Umrah. It is available across the ministry’s online platforms, illustrating the integration of technology in religious education. The initiative aligns with the ministry’s broader goals to facilitate international understanding, offer guidance, and enlighten pilgrims on the intricacies of the rites.
In recognition of its efforts to merge technology with religious guidance, the Ministry was previously honored with the Smart Electronic Content Excellence award at the 27th Middle East Award for Excellence in Government and Smart Cities.
