Saudi Arabia’s EVIQ to Install 5,000 Electric Vehicle Charging Points
EVIQ, the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Company, a joint venture between the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), has announced the opening of a research and development (R&D) facility in Riyadh. This facility is a first-of-its-kind in the region and will be used for testing a range of chargers and software to ensure the deployment of high-quality equipment and software in the electric vehicle (EV) sector across Saudi Arabia.
The R&D facility is a testament to EVIQ’s commitment to quality and sustainable development of the Kingdom’s EV infrastructure. It will give EV drivers in Saudi Arabia confidence that EVIQ chargers have been thoroughly tested to the highest safety and quality standards.
EVIQ CEO Mohammad Bakr Gazzaz stated that the launch of the R&D facility demonstrates EVIQ’s dedication to providing top-quality EV charging solutions. By focusing on charger deployment and compatibility with a range of EVs, EVIQ aims to support the growth of a sustainable and advanced EV ecosystem in Saudi Arabia, in line with the country’s Vision 2030 goals.
The R&D facility plays a crucial role in EVIQ’s mission to deliver high-quality EV charging solutions by thoroughly testing various types of chargers. It also serves as a hub for developing expertise and knowledge in charger technology to support the evolving needs of the electric vehicle market in Saudi Arabia.
EVIQ is on track to deploy 5,000 chargers across 1,000 strategic locations in Saudi Arabia by 2030, aligning with the country’s sustainability goals. This ambitious plan reflects EVIQ’s commitment to catalyzing the EV ecosystem and ushering in a new era of sustainable mobility in the Kingdom.
