In the picturesque Swiss town of Davos, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, engaged in a series of pivotal discussions with executives from leading global technology firms.

The conversations, which took place against the backdrop of the World Economic Forum’s annual gathering, centered on the expansion of tech projects and pioneering solutions within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These talks are part of a broader objective to establish the Kingdom as a central hub for technology and innovation in the region.

During his engagement with Microsoft’s CEO Satya Nadella, Eng. Al-Swaha revisited the outcomes of Nadella’s visit to Riyadh. They delved into the potential enhancement of investment in areas such as generative AI, cloud computing, and the nurturing of entrepreneurship, alongside fostering the development of local talent.

In his dialogue with IBM CEO Arvind Krishna, the Saudi minister reviewed the ongoing collaborative projects and advancements in fields like generative AI, big data, and digital capabilities. Additionally, they examined initiatives designed to fuel research and innovation within deep tech spheres.

Conversations with Amazon CEO Adam Selipsky revolved around a partnership aimed at bolstering the digital economy’s expansion in the region. They discussed the acceleration of innovative business models and the application of generative AI technologies.

Complementing these high-level engagements, Vice Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali met with Alibaba Group CEO J. Michael Evans. Their discussion highlighted the achievements in cultivating national talent and enhancing investment by strengthening partnerships in cloud computing and e-commerce solutions.

Eng. Al-Ohali also conversed with NAX group CEO Jeff Schumacher, focusing on opportunities to invigorate the digital startup landscape and augment innovation, with the aim of creating lucrative opportunities within the digital economy.
