At the recent Saudi Arabia Green Energy Week 2024, Dr. David Zhang, Chief Technology Officer at Sunpure, was a key speaker in a panel titled Opportunities & Challenges – Developing Solar PV in KSA & MENA. He highlighted the impact of Automated Robotic Cleaning Systems (ARCS) in the solar power sector.

Dr. Zhang pointed out the swift progression in ARCS technology, showcasing Sunpure’s dedication to the research and development of photovoltaic (PV) cleaning robots. He presented case studies demonstrating the success of ARCS in enhancing the performance of solar plants, particularly in the KSA and MENA regions, by offering consistent, effective, and dependable cleaning operations.

The adoption of ARCS has resulted in significant reductions in water usage and labor expenses. Furthermore, it has contributed to a decrease in the Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) and a boost in the Internal Rate of Return (IRR) for solar power projects.

Stressing the importance of incorporating ARCS from the outset, Dr. Zhang advised that custom cleaning solutions should be developed by thoroughly evaluating factors such as module types, tracker systems, and plant layout.

During the event, Sunpure shared the stage with esteemed counterparts from established entities including ACWA Power, Amarenco, LONGi Solar, Yellow Door Energy, and SirajPower, a company affiliated with Positive Zero.
