The Saudi Space Agency has entered into a strategic partnership with LeoLabs, a leading company in space surveillance. This collaboration, formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU), seeks to enhance expertise and knowledge exchange while looking into future cooperative ventures.
Dr. Mohammed bin Saud Al-Tamimi, the CEO of SSA, alongside Daniel Ceperley, the head of LeoLabs, cemented the agreement at the recent Space Debris Conference in Riyadh.
The MoU outlines a framework for the two entities to support the expansion of the Saudi space sector and to foster advancements in research and development within the realm of space.
Dr. Al-Tamimi emphasized the Kingdom’s dedication to advancing its space industry, improving space surveillance, and contributing to the resolution of increasing challenges in this sector. This agreement underscores Saudi Arabia’s commitment to international collaboration and strategic partnerships that drive progress and innovation in space endeavors.
He also highlighted the conference’s role in facilitating discussions with key figures in the space industry, both from government and private sectors, to enhance monitoring, analysis, and address the complexities of peaceful space exploration, including the issue of space debris.
