Her pioneering work focuses on developing AI-driven solutions that empower autonomous systems, thereby bolstering the safety and efficiency of aerospace technologies. The advanced algorithms she designs are instrumental in enabling these systems to perceive and analyze their environment to deliver vital data.

Alonazi’s expertise was further honed between 2019 and 2022 when she worked as a visiting researcher at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology. There, in collaboration with Professor Bernard Ghanem, she explored graph convolutional networks and vision for automation at the Image Video Understanding Lab and Visual Computing Center in Thuwal, Saudi Arabia.

As a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’ computer systems technical committee since 2022, Alonazi also brings to the table her leadership skills, previously demonstrated as president of student unions for the Association for Computing Machinery chapters and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics from 2017 to 2020.

Alonazi’s commendable work has not gone unnoticed; her contributions have earned her significant accolades, including the prestigious Asia High Performance Computing Best Research Award in 2017 at the ISC High Performance meeting in Frankfurt, Germany.

Alonazi’s academic background is equally impressive, with a Ph.D. in computer science from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, two master’s degrees in the same field from KAUST and University College Dublin, and an undergraduate degree in computer science and information technology from King Saud University.
