Saudi Arabia is investing over $500 billion in sustainable and innovative tourism projects, as highlighted by Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb at the World Economic Forum in Davos. These efforts are part of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, aiming to enhance economic growth and cultural exchange through eco-friendly tourism development.
Al-Khateeb emphasized the importance of sustainability in projects like AlUla and The Red Sea, and discussed initiatives such as the Saudi Green Initiative and Green Riyadh, which focus on significant tree planting efforts. The Kingdom is committed to achieving net-zero emissions by 2060, integrating environmental considerations into all tourism ventures.
During discussions in Davos, Al-Khateeb also stressed the travel and tourism sector’s critical role in fostering global trust and cultural connectivity. He believes that experiencing diverse cultures and countries is central to the tourism experience.
